I know enjoying IPAs is the “in” thing right now but I seriously love IPAs. They’re by far my favourite style and, while I still enjoy other types of beer, there is just something about the hoppy goodness of an IPA that keeps calling me back. My previous experience homebrewing an IPA, the OBK West Coast…

Recipe: Centennial Blonde
Light and crisp. The IBUs are on the low side, but there is a nice sweet/spicy balance to the beer. The great fresh taste of a craft ale with an extremely clean finish. This reminds me of what a local craft brewery might come out of the gates with to win over a new market….

Beer #5: OBK Irish Stout (+ a coffee experiment!)
While drinking away my previous two beers (with company) I decided I wanted to try my hand at making a stout. When it comes to really dark beers I don’t mind the occasional stout, but it isn’t really what I would consider my ‘go-to’ style. However out of all of the stouts that I have tried…
Brew Terminology: Trub
Trub is the name for the material, along with hop debris, left after the wort has been boiled then transferred and cooled. Although it contains yeast nutrients, its presence can impart off-flavors in the finished beer.
Brew Terminology: Dry Hopping
Dry hopping is the process of adding hops late in the process, usually in the primary fermenter after fermentation has completed or into a secondary fermenter. It is meant to add extra hop aroma without imparting too much bitterness to the final beer.
